Nice atmosphere, good attentive service and good food. Small plates mostly. Very popular.
Cozy, service is quick and attentive, food is excellent. You may want to call and make a reservation, especially for a large group.
Very good, food. People, and the great place .
Open air, fresh + breezy atmosphere. Quiet music so people can talk, and the place filled up! Tasty, well-seasoned food, everything from vegan to fish to meat, and lots of veggies. Wine lovers will enjoy their interesting selection.
Great go-to mediterranean in the neighborhood. Sometimes food can be lest than perfect (hence 4 stars), but otherwise great.
The menu feels like a tapas menu because the prices are rather low for the amounts of food, and even more when you consider the quality. The place is almost a bargain on the cost, and the vibe is upbeat and busy.
Good Ambience. Love the Mezze platter and the bread is amazing, freshly prepared. Good portion size. Baklava is a must try, i haven't had this good baklava in any Turkish restaurant. Other desserts are ok compared to their baklava. If you are looking for a quiet date night, this place is not for you. It's very noisy. But the food is delicious.
I honestly like the dishes and service, great area close to where I live. The workers are always friendly. Would recommend to others.
Lively Turkish restaurant situated on the corner of 81st and 3rd. The vegetarian platter comes with 6 different types of mezzes in addition to unlimited warm pita, and thus is perfect as a starter to share. Beware though, that the portion sizes for their mains can be gigantic- the Iskendur Kebab was absolutely delicious (both the lamb/beef and the crispy pita croutons) but would have been far more appropriate as a meal for two.
Great Turkish spot near the Met 5th Avenue. Love the mosaic tables and cozy atmosphere. Authentic food.
I told my friends about this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I visit this place often. This recommendation is always successful. The the cooking is delicious and the team is generous and cooperative. Every time we go to this place we pass a delightful evening. highly recommended.
Delicious and authentic. Relaxed atmosphere. Had the falafel and garden salad with the best Turkish bread. Good selection of wine at decent prices. Will definitely return.
Amazing octopus, dip platter, and branzino. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner, your pick. This place is great for the neighborhood.
Amazing restaurant on the UES - upscale ambiance, reasonable prices, fast service, and tasty food. Would recommend sharing the Meza platter!
Great Turkish restaurant. Lota if good eats but their swordfish kebabs are to die for.
Had a nice dinner here recently. Charred octopus salad was really good, if a bit heavy on the red onion. Tzaziki was really thick and delicious, pide was warm and it hit the spot. I liked my swordfish kebab -- which I doused in tons of fresh lemon juice (love the little cheesecloth wrappers they put around the lemons -- no seeds!). Best of all, the bill was *insanely* low. Do take note: huge portions! If you're looking for a tasty, inexpensive, casual meal on the UES, Beyoglu is the spot.
Delicious authentic Turkish food in a comfortable environment. The meze options are tasteful and in good size to allow sharing. Perfect for a spring day. The desserts, specially the baklava, are very good too. And if you like Turkish coffee, don’t miss the opportunity of having one of the waiters to reading your fortune on the coffee grounds.
Lovely atmosphere, great fresh food.
Tried this spot once with a friend and I am hooked since then. I love the great atmosphere and fresh dishes and drinks. Kudos.
Sign of door says they are closed for good!
Swordfish kabobs - large pieces of swordfish very dry and overcooked with mediocre vegetables skewed along with them. I am done order swordfish in restaurants -- no one seems to be able to prepare it right. The freshness of the salad was just okay but i guess in new york you get what you pay for. My friends food was also average. We got some fried filo dough with feta cheese and the filo dough was undercooked and not flakey and the filling had an extremely neutral taste. The service took long. I would not eat here again. However it is one of the cheaper options close to the met.
you've got to try it. my friends and i have been coming here for years. they make us all feel so special. <3
Pricey, but food is decent and service is good, offers good al fresco dining. Decor is rather odd and seating is not very comfortable. Get the Fish Special or the Iskender Kebab.
The food is good, wine selection is good as well with reasonable bottle price in the 30's. The ambiance is relaxed, and the food came really quick.
The food was... Good. Not great, I've had better Turkish, with more flavor. The service was excellent, and quick The food was filling and tasted fine, just a bit flat and bland. Certain items stood out better: the babaganoush was surprisingly complex, and the grape leaves well seasoned. By contrast, the kabob tasted like lamb, but really nothing else. Even the caramelized bits didn't have added flavor, which was disappointing.
I arrive at this unique restaurant once a month as I like the special air that is outline this restaurant. The staff is very cordial and skilfull. The service is awfully quick. Not to mention, the food they prepare is magnificent. I frequent many times and I was always pleased. The payment is honest. I highly suggest this restaurant to all my friends.
Such an amazing place! A must-try! Got the Mezes Platter and the Mixed Grill Platter and got a taste of sort of everything in one go. The patio almost has a Parisian feel to it. Loved it. Also I definitely recommend the Angora Red if you like full bodied reds that arent dry.
The food was amazing and great service!
I constantly come buying some food in here. I love the fast service and well prepared food. Kudos.
At the first moment you enter that place the waiters give you a good feeling. Very congenial stuff, it is a friendly restaurant to to go out with your friends or with your date. Great food, experienced chef, competitive cost and nice service. Warmly recommended.
The food was average-good, I ordered the mixed grill, and for dessert got the milk pudding, baklava and traditional turkish tea. Everything came on time and the food was decent. Although, if you a tourist and aren't aware of how the tipping process were, as I wasn't aware because it was my first time visiting the US. After paying, we left the restaurant and the waitress ran out after us saying, very rudely, how bad tippers we are and tried to get more money off of us. As a student on a budget, and a tourist, I was extremely shocked and in disbelief on the way she acted and will never go back due to her actions, which to me was very new.
Great food, service, and ambiance--what more could you want? Oh and reasonable prices, too.
One of my favorite places to go with a group of friends. Great menu selections to order a table full of family style food for everyone to share. The food and wine is delicious. Service is quick and attentive.
we always come here when we go to the met. the food is so delicious. their octopus is so tender and perfectly prepared.
Love this place. The food was fresh and well prepared! If you like Turkish food or middle eastern food. This is the place to go
Fine location for Turkish food. Visited on a Wednesday I think. Definitely worth a return trip. The place has a nice feel to it. Food and feeling reminds me of Kansas City.
Go here. Enjoy good food and really great service. It’s that simple. From the grilled shrimp up everything is perfectly cooked. The waiter had to take our complicated order and served us perfectly. We found it by accident and are now faithful for life. Beyoglu!
We decided to try out this Turkish restaurant as it had outdoor seating and one of our favourite places near here had closed (sniff). We had some fried Calamari, Crab cakes and a Mezze plate. The Calamari were huge rings but tasty. The other 2 plates were okay.
Staff's were nice and helpful.
A delightful spot for fans of Turkish food.
Good food, good taste, friendly staff, nicely decorated, good prices. It is normally busy on friday or saturday night, but the times to serve are perfectly fine.
Great spot for grilled Mediterranean food! Service is nice and food is quite fresh. The octopus was splendid and so was the grilled meat. I was not a big fan of the messenger sampler. Next time we will only take the hummus. Take a outside spot, it’s so much more enjoyable! Totally recommend this spot and the octopus!
Nice Turkish foods, the Iskendar Dunner is the best dish in the restaurant
Excellent food at great prices. The shrimp appetizer is my favorite plate here. Their hot sauce, which is not that hot is super flavorful. Mixed grill plate is great. The rice on the plate was surprisingly delicious. The greek salad, the crab cakes, and the octopus are also excellent.
Some of the best Turkish/Mediterranean food around! The hummus, grilled octopus, and doner kebab are some of the best dishes. I recommend sitting outside on the patio when weather permits.
My wife loved the place. Try it , you will love the Lamb Kabob. It was great. I had a salad and the soup of the day. You will not be disappointed.
One of my favorites. Great Mediterranean food. The cold mezze is beyond addictive and the fresh bread is amazing. Service can be lacking at times but the food makes up for it.
The mezzo plate is popular here, but all the dishes are amazing.
Good food, fair prices, ok service
I always stop purchasing some food in here. I enjoy the speedy service and well cooked dishes. Keep it up.
